You are waiting for this, we know. And that is why, we are not taking this any longer for you to see what you’ll be getting at once you purchase your own Asus Zenfone 2 smartphone. Here is our Zenfone 2 unboxing and first impressions review.
Initially announced and released last May 16 by none other than Asus CEO Jerry Shen at the World Trade Center during the Experience 2Morrow Asus Philippines Zenfone 2 Launch, we got the first glimpse of what the Zenfone 2 series is capable of. Aside form it being the first smartphone with 4GB of RAM, it also stands out as one of the Top 3 foreign mobile brands marketed and sold in the Philippines.
Zenfone 2 is packed with a brand new ZenUI with Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and installed with 64-bit Intel Atom Quad-Core Processor.
But first let’s do the unboxing.
Zenfone 2 comes in four color variants: Gold, Silver, Red, and Black.
For the high end ZE551ML, you’ll have a choice from 16, 32, and 64GB storage while the ZE500CL has 16G.
The prices also varies for each ZE551ML storage: 16GB (PhP 9,995), 32GB (Php 13,995), and 64GB (PhP 14,995). The ZE500CL is priced at Php 7,995.
Battery is a 3000mAh lithium-polymer with 18W Adapter with BoostMaster fast-charging technology. It boasts with under 40 minutes, you can fully-charge your Zenfone 2 with this fast charger accessory.
As for the battery performance, we can say that it generally live up to its claim. Without any data on, the battery can run up to 48 hours while using data and calls reduced the battery life to an almost up to 18 hours from our usage. Using the camera and video often also affects the battery life.
The design of the unit is top of the line and it is created with Ergonomic Curve Design which provides a comfortable, secure grip, and features an intuitively-placed volume-control key on the rear of the phone within easy reach of the user’s index finger. The 5.5-inch Full HD IPS+ screen has a large 72% screen-to-body ratio that provides a maximized viewing experience, while reducing Zenfone 2’s overall size.
We are used to a smartphone with its power button at the right side of the unit, so we often get lost when we activate the on and off feature of the Zenfone 2. The power button is located at the middle top side of the unit for the Zenfone 2.
You’ll never see any buttons on both sides of the unit. In fact, the volume rocker is situated at the back cover casing of the device.
Wi-Fi connectivity is good and we did not find any difficulties when connecting to a Wi-Fi spot.
Performance of the camera is very good. The PixelMaster is Zenfone 2’s main feature and with it, including Low Light mode, Backlight (Super HDR) mode, and Super Resolution mode, ensure incredible photos even in dimly lit situations. We already took many photos and videos from this built-in software and we can say it’s one of the best we’ve ever used.
With the great f/2.0 wide-aperture lens, we can quickly and easily capture beautiful, high-resolution photos with zero shutter-lag. This feature competes with the big and bulky dslr cameras. Trust Zenfone 2 and you can leave your big gear at home.
Price point, we can say that it is a real value for money for the mid-range classifications. The 4GB RAM already speaks for itself. It’s like you’ve never left your PC at home with this memory. It’s worth the cash that you’ll be pulling out from your pocket.
As for the AnTuTu Benchmark v5.7 testing, we’ve got a 42,582.
For us, this will the best smartphone of its classification. Budget pricing at its best.
